Shutterfly Scrapbook Advisory : Kate Teague

Kate Teague

Kate has been scrapbooking for 12 years. She received an honorable mention for Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame—twice! When Kate had a relapse with MS and her right hand went numb, paper scrapping became too difficult. She then turned to digi-scrapping and quickly fell in love with it.

Soon after, Kate started designing for Designer Digitals and then became a prestigious Two Peas in a Bucket Garden Girl. She has also designed stamps, paper and stickers for Fontwerks and served on the inaugural creative board for Simple Scrapbooks Digital Scrapbooking magazine. Currently, Kate is a designer at Design House Digital and is loving it.

In addition to designing for DHD, Kate is a part–time 2nd grade teacher.

Techno Talk: With Traci Reed

Featured artist Traci Reed, from Traci Reed Designs shares with us her techno insights! Enjoy!

What is your favorite piece of technology?

"Ay yi yi, I don’t think I can choose between my iMac and my Canon 7D. I couldn’t live without either! If I had to choose, I’d say my 7D because it’s brand new and makes my heart pitter pat when I look at the pictures it makes!"

Share a bit about your photography background.

"I was actually a professional photographer for a number of years before getting into scrapbooking, but I’ve found with my own layouts, that I’ve learned to accept imperfection. My photos are sometimes overexposed or blurry and I use them anyway!"

What digital software do you use?

"I use Adobe CS4 Suite and my most favorite tool is command + z (undo)! Don’t be afraid to really experiment, undo is your friend and in digital scrapbooking, nothing you do to your page is permanent!"

Traci Reed : Shares About Hybrid Scrapbooking.

Traci Reed, from Traci Reed Designs shares a bit about her hybrid scrapbooking experience.

Do you hybrid scrapbook?

"I have done projects before, but it’s not the way I prefer to scrapbook, I’m such a perfectionist that scissors and glue don’t suit me very well. For this project below, I bought a small wooden cube at the craft store and then made 6 mini layouts of my resolutions for the year and glued them on the 6 sides of the cube. It sat as a paperweight on my desk to remind me of my goals!"

Traci Reed Shares: Her Creative Style

Traci Reed , of Traci Reed Designs shares some creative inspiration with us.

What is your creative style and who or what inspires you most?

"I definitely am a bright, fun, happy scrapper and designer. I like things to look realistic and have clean lines. Minimalism and starkness isn’t my thing, give me gorgeous color and texture any day! My biggest inspiration is every day life. If you look at my products, they’re all about things that happen to everyone, every day. There are kits for swimming at the pool, there are kits to celebrate people’s quirks, roller rink kits, and even kits about life struggles."

Print to Store Services:

Shutterfly users are now able to print 4 x 6 glossy prints to all Walgreens and CVS stores. This will be an option within checkout. You will even get an e-mail when the prints are ready at your local store.

Sharing Capabilities for Cards & Stationery:

Just as you have been able to share you Shutterfly photo books via Facebook, Blogger, etc. you now will be able to share your fabulous Shutterfly Holiday Cards in the same way. There will now be an option within Shutterfly to post those cards on your favorite social media site.Check these changes and several new updates out at Shutterfly.

What is your creative style and who or what inspires you most?
"My children are always my source for inspiration... from experiences that we've had, vacations we've taken, down to their clothing they wear!  My friends giggle when they see a new kit that I've made to 'coordinate' with one of my daughters outfits!  :-) "

"The-LilyPad is home to such talented designers and I feel so lucky to be here.  If you haven't stopped in before... expect to be inspired!   The-LilyPad designers are all known for their 'digital' handcrafted talents, whether it be hand-crafted paper pieces, felt pieces, doodling and unique digi-designs. Be sure to stop by!!"

What is your creative style and who or what inspires you most?

"My creative style is always changing, but I tend to mainly do cute kits with a digital look, or realistic kits with a lot of extracted items.  My inspiration usually comes from my son.  Either now, or from when he was little.  I love magazines and advertising brochures as well."

Tell us about your digi-scrap background. How long have you been a digi-scrap designer?

" I've been designing since early 2007 and started selling in my first store in November of that year.  I had my own store for a while, and then went to work for Pickleberrypop as an admin and designer.  I've recently taken over Pickleberrypop and love it."
