Maya, owner of Scrapbookgraphics, shares her calendar inspiration with us by saying:
"Ok, so I already confessed last week that I have been a bit too busy the past couple of years to really do up Christmas like I used to when I was younger. For many years there was never a Christmas that went by that I didn’t spend months in advance making homemade gifts. However, for me the days of domestic bliss are gone and as a digital artist and a busy business owner I am all about creating gifts that can be personalized and duplicated for multiple recipients.
For that reason specifically, I am very excited about my new Calendar Page Toppers created specifically for this year’s Shutterfly Calendar.
Calendar toppers are quick pages created from my latest Street Smarts Collection. These funky pages are already designed and ready to insert photos. Since our calendar is a gift for grandparents, our son Kai is pretty much the star of the show. I gathered up some photos of his adorable smiling face and inserted each picture into the appropriate page topper. I added an embellishment or journaling on a couple of pages but for the most part his photos tend to tell a story all on their own. An hour later I was done and uploading the personalized Calendar Toppers to Shutterfly.
Last year for Christmas, I made calendars at Shutterfly, and gave them to all of the grandparents, both sides. The thing I love about this calendar is that they let me program in my own dates, to be printed on the calendar. You would not believe how much of a blessing that particular little option is, especially for my mother. My mother is the central hub of a huge family, extended family, friends that are really family… network. She recognizes each birthday and anniversary of every one she knows, and their children, and she sends out cards and phone calls for every event marked on her calendar. She spends hours every New Year copying that information into the new calendar. NOT anymore!
It was a royal pain getting all that data put in for last year’s calendar. Not only did I have mom’s dates, but Mick’s parents’ dates as well to enter in. Thank heavens Shutterfly is sharp enough to allow me to keep those dates within my profile, because this year…..I don’t have to do it again!!!! Yay!
Putting it all together at Shutterfly’s site took me all of about a half hour, and that included two different date versions for Mick’s family, one for my parents, and one for us as well. So I have three gifts now taken care of already. It is gorgeous, it is unique, it is personal and it is filled with beautiful photos and precious memories. The calendar serves a useful time saving purpose, and when the year ends it can be transformed easily into professionally printed pages of a scrapbook. Most importantly, it is made with love. What a perfect gift! In fact, it is the kind of gift that has immediately become a tradition it is so perfect. Thanks to Shutterfly I click a button, print and ship. Ta da!!
