What is your favorite Holiday? Do you have any fun scrapbook traditions or project traditions that you do during the holiday season?

"Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love the excitement that overflows from my kids and the quality time I get to spend with my whole family. I don’t have any scrapbook or project traditions, but I do love to scrap holiday photos. :-) "

Do you hybrid scrapbook and if so tell us about your experience with it ?

"I like to create hybrid gifts like money envelopes, altered blocks for holiday decorations, cd case calendars, and goodie bags with special treat toppers. Unfortunately, time always gets the best of me and I run out of time to photograph these projects."

"We don’t do much hybrid scrapbooking but we do some hybrid crafting. For our booth at CHA this year we did a lot of product comps with our designs. We printed our patterns on fabric to make curtains and line journals, in addition to printing on paper for doing decoupage on a recipe box, jewelry box, etc. We added fun embellishments like ribbon, fibers, glitter (we love Martha Stewart’s glitter!), charms and other trinkets." Do you hybrid scrap?

"You betcha! It’s my new favorite thing. Digital scrapbooking is so much fun but once in a while it’s nice to just pull out the scissors and glue and make a crafty mess. People are often intimidated by the whole idea of hybrid scrapbooking but if you’ve got the right supplies it can be really fun and easy. I’ve been working with Peppermint Creative’s fabulous Board Books and have really enjoyed making up gifts for family and friends. I also recently designed some of hybrid templates for Pillow Boxes, Custom Candy Wrappers and Custom Coupon Books."

Tell us a bit more about your site, etc.

"Every month Peppermint Creative offers a brand new kit that’s free for the taking! Just create an account and you’re good to go. You can view this month’s kit under the Downloads section. At the end of the month, the kit moves to the Coordinated Kits section where all past free kits are available for only $2 each."

Hybrid Scrapbooking Project: "PURSUE Your Art" with an Altered Purse!

I was walking the floor of Memory Trends in September with my dear friend Angie Pedersen when I noticed that she was sporting the cutest little purse. The purse was a work of art--truly! It was covered with pictures and sayings and scrapbook paper. Angie explained to me that there was this great company called "Pursue Your Art" that sells the purses (they are clear plastic purses, with pockets to slip the photos in) with templates that you basically scrap to make up the walls of the purse. It quickly creates your very own personalized purse. I LOVE IT!

I knew I needed to show this great product off in some fashion, so, I e-mailed the company and the next thing I knew, I was "pursuing my art"! This was the ultimate hybrid activity for me. I had so much fun creating the purse and it is going to make the most wonderful holiday gift for my mother. I am calling this project "GRANDMA'S BRAG BAG." (For very obvious reasons!) I was able to personalize the purse with a favorite digital set called "Lucky" by Heather Ann Melzer. I also had some black and white prints made of my boys at Shutterfly that went perfectly with the beautiful green kit.

Here it is. Hope you get some great holiday inspiration and I really hope you can "Pursue Your Art" sometime soon as well!.

Hybrid Holiday Inspiration : Alicia Shares Altered Wall Art!

"Wall Art" has to be one of my personal favorite projects to do when I am hybrid scrapping! I love creating a layout and then figuring out how I can get as many people possible to look at it. Our wall seems to be the best place for that! Anyone who comes to the house seems immediately drawn to the layouts. It sparks great conversation and is a way for me to share my creations without having to pull out a full album.

The first layout sample below (the smaller of the two) is a purely digital 8 x 8 layout that I created with a kit and template from Shutterfly DSAT member Katie Pertiet. I took that layout and had it printed at Shutterfly as an 8 x 8 single square print.

In the second sample below, I mounted the 8 x8 print onto a piece of maroon cardstock then put the square print into a clear acrylic "Picture It Pageframe". These come in several sizes and are very easy to use. You just slide your layout into the frame, add a piece of ribbon to the top of it and hang the frame on your wall. To add a little dimension to my "Wall Art" I stuck a rhinestone sticker from Me and My Big Ideas that says "memories"  directly onto the the front of the Pageframe. (After the fact I went back onto my layout and added a small strip of maroon cardstock behind the rhinestone sticker so that I could see the bling a bit better.) Lastly, I put some green ribbon with a metal ribbon slide from Making Memories that says "blessed" on the corner of the Pageframe. Project done!

That extra little rhinestone bling and ribbon zing made my simple 8 x 8 digital layout a cherished hybrid memory that proudly dawns our wall for all to enjoy! (please note; I had to take an angled photo of the second sample to not get flash reflections and rhinestone glare!) Hope you enjoy the Holiday Hybrid Inspiration!

Hybrid Inspiration : Kate Teague Shares a Tip!

Kate Teague, Two Peas Garden Girl responded to the Week #3 Question of "Do you hybrid scrap?" by saying:

"Yes, I do. Not as often as I would like but I definitely do hybrid scrap. Most frequently,  I'll design most of my page digitally and then print an 8 x 8 at home which I'll add to a 12 x 12 cardstock before embellishing.  I also love printing out digital brushes onto transparency sheets and sticker sheets. Making digital artwork into stickers is fun!"

Holiday Scrapbooking Tip and Freebie: Carol Abram Shares some Word Art!

Carol Abram, owner of Scraphead responded to the Week #3 Question of "Do you hybrid scrap?" by saying:

"I don't hybrid scrap anymore as I am so addicted to the "undo" quality of digital. But when I do hybrid, I am most likely to use ribbons, buttons or maybe pressed flowers. Those are the elements that I enjoy seeing in their real, physical state the most. Especially ribbons....there is just something so tactile about ribbons.  During my paper scrapping days, I became frustrated with elements dropping off or shifting on my layouts as my scrapbooks were passed around, so now I only want to add the items that I know will stay in position. And the cost of "real" elements sometimes limited my creativity too. Digital is definitely my true love, but there will always be a place in my heart for paper scrapping too! Please enjoy these two pieces of Hanukkah Word Art for your upcoming holiday pages. Hanukkah is earlier than ever, December 4...so it's already time to start planning!
