Lie Fhung : What Inspires Her?

Lie Fhung , digital artist from Scrapbook-Bytes is here to share inspiration with us and has a few great freebies for us as well!

How long have you been scrapbooking?

"I started traditional scrapbooking in mid 2005 but it only lasted for a few months because soon I discovered digital scrapbooking and the fact that I could just create my own kits to suit my needs got me hopelessly addicted to it. Within a couple of months, Ztampf! was born and went online in September 2005."

What is your creative style?

"Well, my style is varied as I always look for fresh, innovative ways of doing things. The words that a lot of people often use to describe my kits are: rich, elegant, highly artistic, very unique, versatile and non-cutesy/grown-up."

Who or what inspires you most?

"This is a tough question to answer as my inspirations come from various sources; what I see, hear, think, dream everyday... they all provide inspirations in some way or other. Quite often though, I got inspired by my own work of art (as in contemporary art, see http://art.liefhung.com), i.e. The Great Expectations Collection and Soaring Series - are both inspired by my art."

Welcome : Scrapbook-Bytes!

We are extremely excited to have several of the artists from Scrapbook-Bytes here with us at the Shutterfly Blog. We will spend several weeks getting to know about each of them. They have inspiration, freebies, and personal insight galore to share with us!

The first artist we are introducing is Lie Fhung. Enjoy getting to know about her a bit below.

Tell us about yourself

"My name is Lie Fhung, a Chinese-Indonesian contemporary artist and designer, currently living in Hong Kong with my loving philosopher husband. I have always loved crafts, design and art in their many forms. Creating - be it art, craft or design, is the thing I enjoy most. As an artist, I love working in various medium, from painting to ceramic to digital - often incorporating craft techniques and materials. My work has been exhibited both home and abroad. Beside working as an artist, I am working as a freelance designer as well - doing mostly website work and occasional graphic design projects. I am also the sole owner and designer of Ztampf! Digital Artistrywhich I founded in late 2005. My digiscrap designs are available at both Ztampf! Shop and Scrapbook-Bytes.

My designs are deeply influenced by my daily life and experience - almost each kit has its special story! Designing is very time consuming but it is also challenging and very enjoyable. I love discovering new techniques, developing unique concepts, and creating versatile kits. I am crazy about details; I would spend extra hours and make extra efforts just to get every single detail right. Hence it is so rewarding when customers share with me about how inspiring and helpful my designs are for them."

"The joy of simple pleasures in daily life. In this fast-paced competitive world, we could get too focused on things that we want to achieve and to have. It is so easy to overlook things that we already have; simple every day things that brighten our days. Tending to my potted plants feeling the warm sunshine and the cool breeze. Gazing at the majestic sky, the blue ocean and the fantastic manmade city yonder. Sipping the most delicious coffee prepared by my sweet husband. The magic of creative power and technology. The joy of designing and creating - of making something out of nothing. The contentment derived from a job well done. The heart-warming encounters with people. The love... both given and received... I am grateful for all these things. Life is good."

Purple Snow : By Marie Stones

Marie is leaving us with one last freebie that everyone will be thrilled with! She has created a wonderful mini-kit for us called "Purple Snow".  I created a quick layout of me and my boys during the last big snow so you can get a quick glimpse at the kit. I plan to print this 12 x 12 layout at Shutterfly and add it to my seasonal scrapbook album. I love being able to print my single prints!

What is your favorite piece of technology and why?                "Wow this is a hard one. I love all of my gadget, but I would have to say my digital camera is my favorite. The pics of my kids are priceless."

Please share a favorite digital technique that you love to use.
"I absolutely love actions. They are my new favorite things. They make life as digital scrapbooker easy as the click of a button. My favorites come from Atomic Cupcake and Machine Wash."

Do you have any digital tutorials on your site or located anywhere else that you want to share?

"I have been scrapbooking for about 7 years. I put together my first page at my bridal shower. My Mom and a friend brought pictures of my fiancé and I, plus tones a scrapbooking supplies. Each guest put together a page for us. It was so much fun. After that I was hooked."

What is your creative style?
"I would have to say my style is a cross between artsy and cutesy. Mostly I love to get creative and try new techniques."

Who or what inspires you most?
"Definitely my kids and my Mom. As far as design goes I also like to look for inspiration in clothes and home décor."

Tell us about yourself.
"My name is Marie Stones. I am a mom, graphic artist, digital designer, and small business owner. I started digital scrapbooking about four years ago and quickly fell in love! I particularly loved the freedom of creating my own pages and embellishments. Shortly after finding digital scrapbooking I started my own website, http://www.freedigitalscrapbooking.com, as a way to share the items I had created. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life."

What is your favorite piece of technology (ie. Your camera, your computer, your scanner?) and why?

"My most favorite piece of technology is nothing else but my I-mac computer.  I was once a window user but once i converted to Mac i just couldn't go back.  I love the brightness on my screen and I have to say my computer has only froze maybe once or twice for the past year and a half"
